MEMU certificate program

MEMU stands for Meeting & Event Management University.

Inspired by the now discontinued Festival & Event Management program once successfully offered by the University of Oregon for over a decade, our MEMU Certificate Program offers today’s participants a way to gain practical knowledge by following a structured curriculum towards competency in meeting management, event planning, festival organization, and tradeshow production.

Designed specifically to appeal to the one-time, part-time or “occasional planner”, MEMU content nonetheless offers full time meeting managers and event planners both the the academic and practical education necessary for success in planning and producing all types of gatherings.

Attending MEMU is a great way to prepare for industry certification exams (as an example, preparation for a CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) designation).  Additionally, MEMU offers valuable continuing education units for all coursework for recertification.

Twenty workshops are offered throughout a calendar year.  Workshop locations are posted on the Occasional Planner event page. Content is offered through a combination of live workshops, via live or recorded webinar, via live conference calls and online coursework.

MEMU programming content offers complete coverage of over 128 event elements within event administration, design, marketing, operation, risk, and future trends.

Upon completion of at least 12 courses and workshops (minimum of 24 hours classtime) a MEMU Certificate of Completion will be awarded.  An awards ceremony is held each December in Portland, Oregon by Occasional Planner for all recent MEMU graduates.
